Haiku Wednesday word prompt: Review...

Accept the Invitation: The Year in Review
by klr

Cedar tips fill out
A warming gale blows leeward
Winter in our eyes

Let open the door,
open the eastern window
Accept the invitation

We sing parting songs,
reviewing the best and worst
The pendulum shifts

There are no bookends
on the shelf of life and time,
only knowledge gained

To live simply and earthly,
with passion to give,
share, build, salvage, and renew

Noche Plateada...see below...

Or, silvery night...
Exploring the cosmos, especially the moon, is the theme of many a painting or photograph.  Here, I have collected just a few of many of the most Christmas-like or that remind one of a Holy Night.  Noche Plateada is also the name of a beautiful love song or Ranchera.  I  wish I had names to give credit to all the art.

My Sugar Plum Memory...

My first contribution to the creative website twoscoopz.com in the focus 52 category...prompt for this week: Sweet...as in sweet memory...

by klr

Glowing memories
in flickering candle light
Grandpa nudges me
Christmas bells resonate,
birds announce the hour,
tricycle under the tree

Morning chore at hand
as we step outside,
lacy white flakes kiss my face

The screen door squeaks to a close;
his wool wisky white beard
tickle my round red cheek
Sugarplums keep guard,

Silvery reminders of
long nights, years ago,
the winters he carried me
to the old gray barn
through moon shadowed snow too deep

Time to milk the cow
A lantern lights the distance
from the front stoop to the barn
Mittened hands hold tight
around grandfather's shoulder

I wonder if he
somehow watches o'er me
He had a nickname
for me that I loved so much:
"..hello, Sugarplum.."
From that walk in the snow until
just before he passed,
he always called me his "Sugarplum"

Somehow I thought the word prompt for today's Haiku was Indulge, but I was mistaken;  I thought I would share this anyway...hope that's o.k, Jenn.

Holiday Collage...

I got a bit behind this last weekend and am just now putting up the photos for Scavenger Hunt Sunday  You will see some unique Christmas photos entered there, perfect for home made cards and fun work published by really good photographers.  These are my contributions in response to the 5 categories or prompts that you can follow below:

1.    Less is More

A cherished porcelain angel, one of five given to me years ago.  This lone angel is the only one that has both wings intact due to young ones picking them up.  The crocheted lace doily was made by one of my grandmothers and it has been in the little frame for many years.  It is one of my favorite ornaments to display during Christmas.

2.  Christmas Lights - (I played over at Picnik for awhile to get the effects)   3. Ornament - Glass jar with little gold tree and snow inside and lace for a nice touch.    4.  A Cup of Cheer - I found these vintage cups and saucers on eBay last year and am looking forward to filling them with hot chocolate and marshmallows soon.   5.  The Nativity - a wee one with figures cemented onto a small 3" octagonal mirror made when we were in Girl Scouts in the 1950's. How fun to share them with you.   ;-)

Haiku Wednesday...Malice...

                             by klr

                    She meant no malice
                    when she entered the palace
                    just to glimpse his face...

Join the fun!

Missing photos...and mixed nuts...

Good morning,,,there were funny clouds out yesterday...a weather change around the corner, I think.

For those of you who stop by following a link or if you regularly visit the Eyrie and can't find pictures that go with a post it is because I inadvertently removed them from Google....some of the more technical aspects of having a blog cause me to misplace things or otherwise complicate matters.  I'm good now with the basics ;-)
I intend to re- post all photos but it will take awhile as I do only a couple per day and they are not as easy to find as I would like...thanks for understanding...any photos posted since Nov. 27 are  not effected.
The Christmas tree is going up today; it's the earliest I have ever put it up,  but I am in the mood.  I'll be back with more after the weekend as I have company to tend to.   Again, thanks for your continued support and comments on my blog....there's so much more to say!
BTW, I purchased the pink embroidered tablecloth in Ecuador.
