July's Dance

Robert Hagan 1947 - Australian Impressionist painter -

Driving the convertible
with the top down
along the coastal highway,
mirages shimmer while hinged
to hot asphalt before me
familiar aromas of the seaside
and on the radio -
 a blitz of summer hits

White sand on my nose and
between toes, cures woes
lingering near me.
Andalusian colors and
ambrosial scents of rose hedges
meet billowy clouds
at mfavorite beach and
sail into my heart
overflowing

Caressing my ankles,
sparkling sea gems circle
in water;
  ringlets of cares
subside in sea foam
With sounds of gulls and waves
my sadness leaves me.

At night, a tiger sky
descends around me
Ancient whisperings
lead me to dance in firelight
I sleep in tall grass
bathed in moon light,
awake to a new dawn
These things complete me
and restore my soul

Essence

After a short hiatus the team at dversepoets.com has opened the pub today for more sharing of our poetry. We are asked to write no more than 12 lines re-introducing ourselves using six words - three which tell something about who we are or what is important to us and three words for things we are grateful for.  I am looking forward to reading what everyone has to contribute.
This is a re-written poem with a few slight changes. The words (plus 1) I chose are highlighted below:

I want to go beyond the unfair paradoxes of this world,
experience the fluid universe,
swim through the salty brine of a cold cosmos -
till I reach that serendipitous beach where I'll find
yellow sunshine falling on driftwood,
a cool place of unadulterated  peace of mind
Where horses neigh, children are safe, all ills are cured;
There, the roads are paved with sincerityno bigotry or political foe
Outside, exquisite flowers grow;
inside, friends dancing and bountiful art abide
I'll rest in a cathedral of trees, for I will be home
Sorrow and happiness in my journeys intertwined,
chained together in an infinite, rapturous melody

Beachcombers...

Photo Art Friday

The above photo is a poor shot.  My two friends had gone down to the water while I waited, somewhat fatigued and wearing the boot the podiatrist told me to wear until my heel is healed.  But I don't know why I did not move closer for a better shot??

When I arrived home I decided I wanted to still capture that moment with what I had, so I used all the effects I found on picnik.com to come up with something worth saving as a memoir of our visit.  I'm trying to decide which of the various results is my favorite and I think I've found it.
Which is yours?

Mine is the last one or the one with
sepia and sun...does it
 deserve a frame I wonder...

Last but not least I went back today and used the hypnotic effect and lo and behold, a clam shell!
