Willow weep for me
wipe dry my tears in the wind
so no more be shed
Strongholds of safety
mighty oak, cedar, and fir
toothpicks in lava
Deep forest secrets
gather moss for safekeeping
fall on fauna's ears
A nest with a view
toothpicks in lava
Deep forest secrets
gather moss for safekeeping
fall on fauna's ears
eagles spy their midday meal
capture and return
Tree pollen settles
powders my nose yellow green
Allergies abound
Shadow of an owl
within his arbor abode
wise eyes turn around
And for my friends who come to the feeder in the maple tree:
Sip sugar water
energy for propellers
Hummingbird yoga
.
Ha,, the pollen angle.. I wonder if anyone would have that one. we have the worst year ever for allergies.. Love the hummingbird yoga,,
ReplyDeletevery cool.. my fav is the one with tree pollen powdering the nose yellow green... such a very charming image despite the allergy...smiles
ReplyDeleteThese are great, I especially love

ReplyDeletei love the hummingbird yoga one...ha....

Oh, some very fine haiku here, Katy. I think my favorite is the one about the owl with his wise eyes & my second favorite about the weeping willow. When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time with a weeping willow tree; and your poem brought back some memories!
ReplyDeleteThe last one is my favourite - hummingbird yoga!
ReplyDeleteVery well done KKKKaty. >KB
ReplyDeleteThese are all so good. The pollen one, almost made me sneeze (I have allergies). Just kidding. I loved them all. The last one so super cute.
ReplyDeleteSome very intersting couplings! I love the surprise of your descriptions: hummingbird yoga, toothpicks in lava, fauna's ears...just loved these
ReplyDeletefun ! to wear bright red in the Bighorn mountains is to be buzzed by humming birds - and now I know they are doing yoga :)
ReplyDeletean amazingly sweet collection. it's hard to choose a favorite. very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteyou've taken us on a journey

I love these haiku, even as I regret the hayfever invasion of tree pollen!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful haikus!! well done.
ReplyDeleteI like them all, but my favourite has got to be the moss-covered forest secrets whispered in the faun's ear...
ReplyDeleteThese are all so very cool.. the allergies and hummingbird yoga ones are real cute... and i love the toothpicks in lava, too.. beautiful haikus!
ReplyDeleteSo enjoyed these haiku, thank you for them.
ReplyDeleteA great series, Katy! I like the realism of the eagle haiku and that of the weeping willow - a very inspiring tree in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful string of words, Katy. This form suits the subject and you do it to great effect! Well done.
ReplyDeleteLovely haiku series. How ironic is it that the mighty oaks become cake testers. :-)
ReplyDeleteEspecially love the very first one! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful. I especially love the hummingbird yoga - we have a tribe of the little critters here.
