Haiku for trees...












dVerse

A few haiku today for today's "tree" theme.  Much has been written
about them over time.  Visit dversepoets.com  to read what else is submitted today..


Willow weep for me
  wipe dry my tears in the wind
  so no more be shed 

Strongholds of safety
mighty oak, cedar, and fir
toothpicks in lava

Deep forest secrets
gather moss for safekeeping
fall on fauna's ears

A nest with a view
eagles spy their midday meal
 capture and return

Tree pollen settles
powders my nose yellow green
Allergies abound

Shadow of an owl
 within his arbor abode
wise eyes turn around

And for my friends who come to the feeder in the maple tree:

Sip sugar water
energy for propellers
Hummingbird yoga

    Ha,, the pollen angle.. I wonder if anyone would have that one. we have the worst year ever for allergies.. Love the hummingbird yoga,,

    very cool.. my fav is the one with tree pollen powdering the nose yellow green... such a very charming image despite the allergy...smiles

    Oh, some very fine haiku here, Katy. I think my favorite is the one about the owl with his wise eyes & my second favorite about the weeping willow. When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time with a weeping willow tree; and your poem brought back some memories!

    These are all so good. The pollen one, almost made me sneeze (I have allergies). Just kidding. I loved them all. The last one so super cute.

    fun ! to wear bright red in the Bighorn mountains is to be buzzed by humming birds - and now I know they are doing yoga :)

    A great series, Katy! I like the realism of the eagle haiku and that of the weeping willow - a very inspiring tree in my opinion.
