FYI
While I was in the nail salon
all was foegone
for today's curse
keeps getting worse
Gals spoke of suicide among
the very young
Preyed upon
by anyone
It happens almost anywhere
they wait in lair
to bully those
in fragile throws

Nice minute poem on a serious theme. Names can be more harmful than sticks and stones.
ReplyDeleteFor sure, children prayed upon, the true innocents.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sad reality. Nicely penned and makes me aware of how adaptable this form is.
ReplyDeleteThis expresses a heartbreaking reality but is a good poem. Thanks for writing and sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis rings so true and I liked the voice you used. It fitted well, colloquial. XX
ReplyDeleteHaving a little one myself, this is a serious concern, especially with the internet now.

ReplyDeleteYour minute poem features a heart-rending trend. Well said.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to pray that life and kindness prevail in a world where death and meanness seem to be getting too large a foothold.
ReplyDeleteI worried for decades about my 3 daughters--now I can worry about my 8 grandchildren. Terrific message conveyed with the prompt parameters !

This is most unexpected of youngsters. Have they given up on life?

I find that a salon and other places where people get to hang together is a good place to connect with humanity. The stories are raw and unfiltered.
ReplyDeleteYou have captured here a very poignant moment and expressed it very well in a few words.

P.S. I am sorry that I could not comment earlier. I had trouble signing using my Wordpress account using my phone. I guess, Blogger does not like WP as much. :-)
Passionately written and beautifully expressed.
