Wings of grace... Quadrille #36

Having gifted himself to the world, not racing to win
...finishing his journey...
arriving fulfilled,
he bravely hurdled obstacles
...in stout rusty under-armor,
character true.
His weary wings lift off
life's end post....
flickering into paradise's mystery hush,
weeping hearts
letting him go.

For the first prompt after a two week break, I wrote a 44 word Quadrille using the word "flicker".

  1. Love the image of the bird's stout rusty under-armor, which puts me in mind of a regal hawk. Very nice!

  2. I love the images in this, Kathy -- the confident young hero looking forward even as those left behind -- parents? -- have to let go. Well done!

    1. Actually, I was thinking of an older bird leaving his family, those he always protected under his wings.:-)

  3. I love the notion that each of us gifts ourself to this world, for I am happy with the notion that or entity sets up circumstances before each lifetime, that we may, or may not, adhere to, within the confines of our specific life adventure. The image seems more gull than hawk to me.

    1. It is a gull, but it could be any bird. You got my point.

  4. Poignant. I can even see it applying to a person. I do love birds; they are so full of symbolism.

  7. A beautiful poignant write. It is hard to let go - but we leave our history in those that have followed.

  8. I see it as a symbolism of someone who is protecting and nurturing, and then letting go ~

  9. The bird here is a most beautiful spirit to me. Having fulfilled life's purpose it's going home. How beautiful is that! May the 'mystery hush' open up and embrace it.

  10. Life's end post - I felt the last lift off to be a journey heavenward.

  11. Powerful metaphor Kathy. I know it's a bird but it could be anyone of us.
