Harbingers of Spring
dversepoets
Emerging harbingers of spring
have begun -
returning birdsong,
the stretching of days,
slow smile of the sun.
Racing thoughts scatter
to the scent of a China moon.
Rain abides for fools...
the glance of
a dream lover -
Narcissus croon.
Born of the side of a stem,
buds of silky fur pussy willow,
the bleating of
prancing new lambs
in green pillowed meadows,
and me -
in green pillowed meadows,
and me -
stepping lightly.

That’s a beautiful stanza, Kathy:
‘Racing thoughts scatter
to the scent of a China moon.
Rain abides for fools...
the glance of
a dream lover’.
First....when I click on your name/link on Mr Linky, only the photo of the beautiful house that is always on your blog comes up and I can barely read the words that says the page I'm looking for doesn't exist. So....I simply clicked on the name of your blog A Dwelling by the Sea which took me to your most recent post and this poem which is what you meant to link to Mr Linky. I think others should get to read this as it is a delightful post for the prompt. So perhaps click on the title of the poem, then click on the the URL for this exact page, and post it again in Mr Linky. Perhaps you could go into the chat and ask Sarah to delete the link that goes no where?
ReplyDeleteAnd now, feedback on the poem:
I love it! So many write about spring...but you've really hit the nail on the head here with the feeling of harbingers of spring...that light whimsical feel that cuts through winter and lifts our hears. Most especially I loved these words:
"the slow smile of the sun....
and me stepping lightly."
Thank you, Lilian. I accidentally erased my poem and couldn't retrieve it. I asked Sarah to delete it and posted it again including a comment from Kim which I was able to save.
ReplyDeleteI love these wonderful images of spring... they made me feel light just by reading them. Here it's deepest winter...might be able to do ice skating during the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bjorn. I've been ice skating only once at a rink in a mall. I so admire skaters at the Olympics and fine art prints of old fashioned skaters!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Kathy!!
ReplyDeleteLovely layers of detail and imagery of spring. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sarah. I tried communicating with you to delete my first link.
DeleteAbsolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like the "green pillowed meadows"
ReplyDeleteLove the line,
ReplyDelete"The stretching of day".
One of my favorite signs of spring. A lovely poem.
