spiritless 
air escaping
Yesterday had meaning
...a bountiful sunset poured onto her apt. patio only inches
from
free-fall
Invisible guitar strings strum
..fill the air with brooding Garfunkel refrain
Today...
hopelessness overtook her
...urging her to jump from the precipice edge
..her dome light of fragile confidence...
..fading

....when languishing golden strobes of light appear 
blinding 
lemon lime color skips
Peacock flamed silhouettes of her tortured soul 
pattern the building
Stretch...
...amid fuchsia splashes of the rainbow
on the roof
..ultraviolet sticky threads cling to her body
She grasps falling Rapunzel like

aureole hair...
causing her heart to give way 

.....for grateful second thoughts

.....weeping silently
having prevailed...
when fragile moments turned around silently.. 
enveloped by viscous psychedelic arms of faith
It wasn't the first time
..carried back inside to live

Color bursts...

Photo Art Friday ~

For today my best intention was to read a tutorial on texture in photos.  However, I went back to picnik, and played with a few effects with this photo I took SOOC of a pink dahlia (right).

First I added a simple soft border.....then 'puddled' or 'rippled' it for this artsy result:

Then I made a 'waterfall' of pixels and a hypnotic setting for this original  kaleidoscope effect. (Below) For the last one I used black, white and sepia tones and the cross process with color focus at the center for a vintage look:

With the upcoming holiday there will be little time,  but I will have something else to share for that occasion. In the meantime, please visit the other outstanding photos submitted to Pixel Dust Studio this weekend:

Chambers Bay Golf Course...

Until I take a tutorial on textures, picnik color focal point, sepia, and black and white vignette matte effects are my tools.
Local links modeled after St. Andrews in Scotland...which do you prefer....SOOC (straight out of the camera)or textured a bit.

Bird in wreath...

Depth in wreath is more apparent with sepia and other tones cross highlighted - the texture is really the wreath itself...for me...a step closer to the more complicated texture formats ;-)   Entry for ----

Fun with depression glass color...

Having started out collecting the green depression glass, liking my mother's taste,  it wasn't long before I fell in love with the pink and the yellow.  I am not fond of the blue or dark green.  What I am am really on the lookout for is a combination (watermelon glass) green and pink pitcher to use for iced tea on a summer occasion.  I should have bought the one I saw in Oregon several years ago for $65.  Then there are the watermelon glass goblets and glasses.  I have a full set of the pink with the green stem that you see in the picture below but I'm hoping to find more of the rarer reversed glasses in the same pattern....but with a green bowl and a pink stem/foot. 

Anyway, I thought about the colors in the hand made needlepoint cover of the old stool that my grandmother Eva made many years ago.  I put the above set of glass item on top of it and aimed straight down to get the results you see below:

None of the other attempts at fading or what not turned out better than these two photos.  So, while pretty, one cannot see the flowers from that perspective. 

I love the hand me down items inherited from my mother and grandmothers.  Needless to say, I have simply added to the 
collections from time to time....like spoons.....how I love the spoons and spooners!  That is for another post sometime.

           This was easy to assemble...some sepia and inverted colors from picnik.com.  The carpet provided the texture.  Mary provided the subject matter.

Attempting to photograph a starry night would certainly require more camera knowledge than I possess plus a location outside the city.  But this particular morning I was struck by the shadowy forms of a birch tree and a maple as the sun was just thinking about rising...

Goodbye summer...

In a last minute attempt to hang onto summer, I retrieved a few photos selected from my stash taken from a multitude of photos by many people. ( I did not take them) to carry me through to the next trip to the ocean.   No doubt there will be a different forecast and the skies will be gray or stormy.  That is just fine with me, for it's cozy inside and it's another opportunity to beach comb and smell the salty air I love.

Blue and white as well as red and yellow are associated with the beach.  I chose some in blue and gray for this post.  I did think about adding some special effects from picnik.com  but decided against it.  All are reminders of a recent visit.  The old VW bus with surfboards for nostalgia, the homemade sea shell mobile, a favorite lighthouse in Cape Cod, some buoys and an oar for nautical decor, a soft pillow for the head while reading, a beachy wreath, Jonathon Livingston Seagull (if you are familiar with his story), and the sound of waves and waves and more waves.

                                                                                

Fun color!

 Need I say more?  I borrowed these bright photos (some with copyrights) and just  had to put them together!  I love the striped dress as it speaks for a different era and I think just to wear it would make one happy.   And, oh, I once had a beach ball just like the one above....didn't we all?    A zebra of multi-colored stripes is almost surreal.  For some heavier content I added the stack of books or cds for each color is found in them as the other photos.  I especially  like  the paintbrush, an art object here, beautifully photographed. 

The glass violin shaped bottles are called Vibots and were made mostly in the 30's and 40's and I personally have collected 8  of them, each a different color.  I started with the amethyst, which is the oldest, and then added the blue, green, amber and turquoise.  Later I found a cranberry colored one on ebay and also a lighter green and a light pink. Yet to purchase is a cobalt blue one, commom and easy to find,  and a yellow one, which will be difficult to locate.  Such fun they are to put in a sunny window, which I haven't done yet because I don't have wide enough window sills.  Anyway, the theme is the use of vibrant color, found everywhere, of course, but I particulaly like these for their flair.

Farewell

Continuing with the same theme of color and and the soft hues of my last post, I've been wanting to share this with anyone who has not seen it yet.  I think it sends an optimistic message; there is light after darkness, calm after rough seas, and clouds do have silver linings.  This was painted by the late Senator Ted Kennedy (1934-2011).
