Rainbow sherbet..

dVerse

We were given several digital art photos done by photographer SueAnn.   Choosing one,
we are to write a poem using it as inspiration.  See them all over at dversepoets.com where
Brian Miller is hosting...

...her pear shaped gauzy figure exited the single pane door
spiritless
air escaping
Yesterday had meaning
...a bountiful sunset poured onto her apt. patio only inches
from
free-fall
Invisible guitar strings strum
..fill the air with brooding Garfunkel refrain
Today...
hopelessness overtook her
...urging her to jump from the precipice edge
..her dome light of fragile confidence...
..fading

....when languishing golden strobes of light appear
blinding
lemon lime color skips
Peacock flamed silhouettes of her tortured soul
pattern the building
Stretch...
...amid fuchsia splashes of the rainbow
on the roof
..ultraviolet sticky threads cling to her body
She grasps falling Rapunzel like
aureole hair...
causing her heart to give way
.....for grateful second thoughts

.....weeping silently
having prevailed...
when fragile moments turned around silently..
enveloped by viscous psychedelic arms of faith
It wasn't the first time
..carried back inside to live
..another day to depart

  1. Ouch -- well captured. Walking away from a suicide of despair. "Viscious psychedelic arms of faith" somehow act as comforters.

    1. ...I wondered about the brightness coming from the left but thought it made her midday crisis seem more real set against an apt. setting in the city..

  5. Ah, you have really woven a fine tale. I did enjoy all of the colors as well, which helped me visualize the scene. I am glad that at the end she is spared...to live another day.

  6. The colors here become symbolic - like different filters, or fishnets, capturing, capturing, stopping her, leading her a different way. Extremely effective..Wow!

    1. Thanks....and like others who wrote from the photos, it was the image that triggered the idea( imagination )for the poem, not a personal experience..')

  11. I'm a painter so this appealed to me immediately, your use of color language was flawless. I'm glad she was saved by the grace of the light. Beautiful work!

  13. Like the painting, you painted it again with words. I love the depth in this, the anguish, but most of all, the stepping away from the dar and back into the light. The hope. Beautifully done.

  16. Rich prose. I like "grateful second thoughts" and "fragile moments turned around silently." The last stanza leaves so much to think about.
