Of old LP's...

It's Open Link Night at   dversepoets.com ...

A familiar spotlight
beams down on me
passing ancient stars still aglow
Gravity tugs between the colossal hunter
stepping across the night sky
and my heart
If I sing from a mountain plateau,
build stairs for me to climb
I'll bring you armfuls of wildflowers
...play for you a honeyed cello
where safely therein his belt, you swing
on a middle star..
 ...and tell you revelations
of a changed world and time

Intercepted streams
of consciousness meet...bent vinyl time
softens, memories boomerang
from a favorite LP
Ah, your savior-faire,  my naivete..
a favorite red gown,
 spumy champagne
Still, you are the high road
I drive by the sea...
you're there beside me at the symphony,
and when I dine you are the
soupe du jour,
So once again won't you lead me
waltzing blissfully,
this time across the dance floor
of the stratosphere...

    Ah, your savior-faire, my naivete..

and this is the one time you will hear me say this, but lose the ... between softens and memories..., make it a comma because it gives you a double play with softens....of time softens and softens memories..and that is cool...smiles.

  5. I want to climb those stairs and gather wildflowers in the star field. Your imagery is so unique and romantic. I'm an amateur astronomer so your poem grabbed my attention right away. The progression is fabulous. I really enjoyed your poem.

  10. Like the thought of the trapeze artist coming down from the stars in this lovely verse.
I'm hoping though that 'armfuls of wildflowers' will forever remain a metaphor and not become reality :-)

    1. ..thanks..hope you got that my mate was swinging on a star in Orion's belt..where I imagined him to be since he passed..and if we were to connect..etc?

  11. Orion stands out so strong -- what, with Betelgeuse and Rigel, he is always the easiest to spot.

And Alnilam is the blue super giant in the middle of his belt (the string of pearls), becomes the LP, champagne and the stratospheric dance floor.

Very trippy -- a galactic journey.

    1. That constellation has special meaning for me, so glad you picked that up and I know the names of the stars..just wasn't sure if I should use them in this poem...might have been a good idea ;)

  14. This sure brought back memories ~ My best parts are:

    Ah, your savior-faire, my naivete..
    a favorite red gown,
    spumy champagne
Still, you are the high road
    I drive by the sea...

I like that you are using the commas, instead of ......; perhaps you can even try dashes -- for pauses, if you like. The punctuation is a tricky business but after a while, you get the hang of it and notice it too in other's works ~ Hope you don't mind the feedback ~ Smiles ~

Had seen this bad experience when an LP was left in the car in the hot sun. It bent. Someone mocked and said 'why not turn it around and put it back again. That might get it to regain the original shape!' Hilarious! Thanks for the memories Kathy!
