Today we are being asked by Tony at            dversepoets.com    to write cinquains, the form of five lines of words with syllable counts of  2, 4,  6. 8. and 2...always fun to do..and for me, much easier than limericks as I am  unfortunately not clever enough for them..;)

  19. What a collection. All are exquisite, so I refrain from giving a favorite.

  20. These are fine cinquains - I enjoyed them all. A few things for you to consider;

    1) In chess it is the king that the pieces are protecting. As Henry VIII of England amply demonstrated, even queens are disposable. Changing queen's to king's has no effect on the syllable count, so I'd definitely make that change if it were my poem.

    2) In Gypsies I think repeating the title as the first word detracts from the lovely image you paint. There are two possible solutions; either a different title or - and I think this is what I'd do - have the poem run straight on from the title like this:

    Gypsies
    dance in firelight ...

    3) Honey is made by bees, not from them!! I know what I said about in a perfect world every line ending has significant, but the world isn't perfect.

    Just some suggestions for to you to do with as you will :-)

  26. Ohhhhhh, OJ's lawyer -- cracked me up.
    Very politically uncorrect!!
    naughty

    Wow, a woman who plays chess -- I almost fall in love. But can I convince you of the superiority and sexiness of WeiQi?
    (in my table on contents, under "Subject" you will find WeiQi poems)

    Blueberries and dancing gypsies -- fun!

  27. I'm glad you enjoyed them, Sabio, and I did read about WeiQi poems. I was unfamiliar with it, don't even know how to play Majong yet (my grandchildren will show me), but I'll readily submit to your idea of the superiority and sexiness of the the game as I interpret it. ;)

  28. Then you do understand. It is a magical game == the only one I have found to imitate life. Perhaps Life imitates WeiQi. !

    1. I do understand this, and your mantra...given that, I think I personally fail to reach the full potential that is offered and would like to change that.
